Seckinger: Hardly any other winery represents the Nouvelle Vague of Palatinate wine like this. The Seckinger - Pinot Gris vom Kalkstein 2021 is a bank and a price-performance supplier year after year.
The Grauburgunder vom Kalkstein is a dry, relatively slim representative of the grape variety. It is not over-extracted, but delicate, with elegant acidity and a fantastic drinking flow.
It smells of salted almonds, salted pretzels and some pears and is slightly smoky.
On the palate a very soft texture (thanks to BSA), initially little acid, again pear fruit with a little grapefruit residue, at the same time quite elegant.
The Seckinger's also work consistently with the basic wines: low yield and early harvest, so that the Pinot Gris from Buntsandstein stays lean and fresh. Spontaneously fermented and aged in small used barrels on the full yeast, bottled unfiltered and only slightly sulphurised.
Cheers, to the new Pfalz!
