God of heaven, that's expressive - tons of aromatics, immediately at the first sniff. A Riesling that is difficult to locate anywhere, which makes it incredibly exciting: The Schieferberg lives up to its name and immediately reveals a dark, warm, earthy-schisty flavor that reminds a bit of the Middle Moselle. Quince jelly, saffron, sea buckthorn, tobacco, lots of honey gummy bears, then also the typical yeasty-nutty notes that we love so much from the Achillée boys. With a little air, things become more floral and are reminiscent of rose oil, bergamot, noble wood polish, all in all, the wine is ideally suited to its first tones of maturity (very subtle petrol, incense and a little beeswax, we're talking about 2017 after all). Already the first and second sip you notice how the piquant acidity keeps the Riesling fresh, and the dark slate minerality gives it a lot of depth. Aromatic as expressive as in the fragrance, cool herbs, smoke, orange peel and, despite its powerful concentration, a beautiful delicacy. In short: cool, individual material!
