Tom Lubbe, the mastermind behind Matassa, it can be simple: white, red, orange (soon also rosé!) - always with your own handwriting. Matassa - Cuvée Marguerite is a white wine, a cuvé of Gelber Muskateller, Muscat d'Alexandrie, Macabeo and, depending on the vintage, a little Viognier, which is produced by Domaine Matassa.
Domaine Matassa is a winery in the south of France that has small plots with very old vines. It was founded in 2011, its vineyards cover a total of 15 hectares and are managed according to the principles of biodynamics. The winery uses very little sulfur in the winemaking process and no processing additives are added to the wines.
The soils of the vineyards of the Matassa Cuvée Marguerite consist of slate and marl. They are surrounded by bushland and native vegetation. They are exposed to numerous conditions and their climate is influenced by the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. They are farmed ecologically and biodynamically and produce around 18 hectoliters per hectare. They are hand-picked early in the morning in small boxes with a capacity of 12 kg so that the grapes arrive at the winery fresh and undamaged.
The Matassa Cuvée Marguerite is fermented with local yeasts in 500 liter barrels. The wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures on the lees for 10 to 12 months without any lees storage. In addition, very little sulfur is added during winemaking.
The Matassa Cuvée Marguerite is a white wine with intense and fresh aromas and a lively and voluminous palate.
Tip: This is a great wine that you can keep open in the refrigerator for days and weeks and watch the changes from day to day.
