Sextant - Julien Altaber

Julien Altaber grew up on a farm in southern Burgundy. He knew early on that natural wine His great passion is: caring for the vines in the vineyards throughout the year, accompanying the grapes and the wine from them in the cellar, but interfering as little as possible. Each of his wines is made without the addition of oenological products (including sulphites) and with minimal intervention. At Dominque Derain, with whom he has been working since 2002, he got to know the biodynamic economy and immediately knew that he felt at home in it. In 2007 he gave his need to do "his own thing" and found the "Sextant" winery. He produces wines from the best appellations on the Côte de Beaune: Saint Aubin, Puligny Montrachet and Pommard. Julien has taken over the job of cellar master at Dominque Derain since 2020 and we are already looking forward to the new wines!

Nevertheless, his goal is not to produce a “Grand Vin”, but a “True Wine”: honestly, with maximum drink ability.
