The salt in the soup of the modern world of wine are internationally competitive wines made from local grape varieties. Toni Sarrion has been pursuing this goal since the establishment of Bodega Mustiguillo in 1999. The local grape variety Bobal is not easy to use and it reacts very strongly to the climatic diversity of the vintage, but it produces individual wines with a special charm. The Spanish grape variety Bobal can be brightly colored, warm, spicy and acidic. Depending on the vintage and the reduction in yield, it can also be large or larger! In any case, it is a wonderfully beneficial change in the grape variety monotony.
For the first time, the responsible winemaker and owner Toni Sarrion dared to press his top wine Mustiguillo - Finca Terrerazo to 100% from the local grape variety Bobal grape. And that in the qualitatively difficult 2010 vintage. We take our hat off to this decision, because the result is as good as it is surprising! The complex nose exudes the scent of dark berries, roasted coffee, chocolate and currently still clear notes of noble vanilla. Dense and deep on the palate, fresh and cool with aromas similar to those on the nose. A wine from the Bodega Mustiguillo winery, to which we take our hat off because of its intelligence and its coherent style. Bravo, Toni Sarrion!
Mustiguillo - Finca Terrerazo 2016 is made up of 100% from the native Bobal grape variety. The Spanish grape variety Bobal is the native grape variety here in the hinterland of Valencia. Bodega Mustiguillo has now completely converted to organic viticulture and all wines from this winery are therefore organic. 92 Parker points from Wine Advocate / Robert Parker.
